Our mission is very simple – to provide a quality childcare experience that helps your child develop physically, socially, and emotionally.

My name is Bridget Pretorius. I am the co-owner and co-founder of Helping Hands Preprimary.

My husband Joe and I had a dream of offering top quality and affordable care to the surrounding community.

Offering a service with a difference, so that children feel a "home from home" environment.

We have an open-door policy – parents are welcome to visit us any time of day!

My Philosophy
I believe that all children deserve love, attention, and nurturing. I believe that a safe environment allows children to explore and grow. At Helping Hands Preprimary, we allow children to have hands-on learning experiences. This fosters age-appropriate development. We tailor our lessons to each child's unique learning style.

We read to the children every day or encourage them to discover their own worlds in reading. Along with many other carefully selected interactions.  Primary and high school teachers have highlighted to us that reading here in preprimary is paramount in your child's life progress.

Positive reinforcement is important for children to develop self-esteem, we think. Children need an environment of security that nevertheless supports free expression and stimulates learning, we think.

Most importantly, however, I believe that children need to have fun! At Helping Hands Preprimary, we often have ice cream or similar parties, video days, and we play lots of exciting games. Children learn best from experiencing the world around them. Helping Hands Preprimary limits TV or video to not interfere with our other goals.

I have been caring for children for many years. I have two children of my own. My oldest son is Gareth, age 16, alongside Odette, 12. Sometimes they are my unofficial assistants, as they spontaneously pitch in. I opened Helping Hands Preprimary because I love children.

At Helping Hands Preprimary we recognize that you may have a difficult schedule – we support parents the best we can. We offer drop-in care and early drop-off and late-ish pick-up so that your schedule can be accommodated. As participants in the economy ourselves, we appreciate the importance of work, and understand the stress and demands placed on parents.

We want you to trust us that your child or children are in good hands!
